Im so in love with this pattern! Princess seams are my favourite and It will definitely be a wardrobe staple for me!

  2. Sarah

I had been looking for the perfect peplum for ages, nothing seemed right. They were too long, or the waist was too low, etc. which is why I love the Margot! It is the perfect amount of dressy for my mom-wardrobe. I especially like all the options!

  3. ammonlane

Love love love this top so much I convinced my friends to buy it! I love it in Liverpool for a more dressed up structured look with a Sybil pencil. Top notch like always!

  4. Alisha (verified owner)

I love the way this fits, especially with the princess seams on the bodice. It’s so flattering!! The pattern was really easy to put together. Clear instructions, simple to sew!

  5. jillscookiesanddreams

The Margot is my favorite pattern hands down! I’m a small with XS waist and it’s flattering on me as well as on my mom who is XL graded to 2X. The sizing guide is right on point. What I measure is the perfect fit. I’ve made this with double brushed polyester and a thick stable sweater knit. It looks great in both! The princess seams take me a while, but the solid options are quick. I’m a beginning sewist.

I am a pear shape and this pattern is wonderfully flattering. It’s easy and quick to construct with pattern notches for perfect alignment. I picked a size based on my measurements and the only pattern alteration I made was adding 1/2″ to the bodice below the bust line. Everything else was spot on. I used a double brushed poly knit and the drape was a perfect fit for this pattern. And as always the patterns are so well organized and easy to follow.

Love this design! I’ve been on the hunt for a pattern like this (after owning some store-bought shirts in this design that I love), so I was thrilled to find this so that I can make some of my own! Thank you for the great design!!!

  8. Trista

Love the princess seams and pleated skirt. It’s not your average peplum.

  9. Suzanne

Love the pleats! Fits great! Thanks!

I used the bodice portion and mashed it with a skirt from another dress pattern. Love Notions pattern fit me perfect and are my go to.

  11. Kelsey (verified owner)

Absolutely love this pattern! My favorite peplum by far.

  12. Bethany (verified owner)

I am so in love with the updated version of the Margot! It pairs perfectly with the Sybil pencil skirt for a perfectly put together look, too!

  13. Sheila O’Kelly (verified owner)

This is a wonderful top. So well drafted that it is easy to sew. And the full bust option, that I used, is magic.

I was introduced to the dress version of the Margot pleated peplum with the princess bodice and 3/4 sleeve through Karina Trinidad’s Lifting Pins and Needles YouTube.com tutorial. This is my second Love Notions sewing pattern. The first one was the Olympia dress which I also love. Usually I hate PDF sewing patterns but the trimless feature takes the work out of the pattern assembly. I also appreciate that the instructions list exactly what pages are required for each view and sleeve type. The instructions are clearly written and each step is paired with a helpful visual. The words “right side” and “wrong side” with the corresponding colours are repeated on every page so you don’t have to get lost trying to remember the correct colour. I used the standard bust, made the size large, graded to an XL at the waist and skirt and used a Port wine coloured ponte knit fabric. I found that the finished bodice was too large (not fitted in the armpit) but I think that I may have added extra width in the wrong spots when I was grading my pattern pieces and should have made a medium sized bodice in the first place (I was between sizes and went up instead of down a size as per the sewing pattern instructions. I should have paid attention! LOL! Next time I will add 1.5 -2 inches at the waist( (I prefer a bodice to hit closer to my natural waist because I am short waisted and have a full derriere) and try a size medium, graded to an XL at the waist and skirt. This pattern was so satisfying to make; everything fit perfectly like a puzzle. I made this dress for the workplace; it brings a sophisticated comfort to my wardrobe! I cannot wait to make it again! Love, love, love!

The fit on this is perfect! I love that it has full bust pieces included so I donโ€™t have to take the time to make that adjustment myself.

  16. dmschindlbeck (verified owner)

This was so fun to sew and a very flattering style. I have plans to make another for summer, perhaps even sleeveless.

  17. Lrain (verified owner)

Another wonderful pattern, the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I made mine in a light sweater knit and added a bit of length, I love the little pleat version.

  18. Colleen (verified owner)

This is my all-time favorite pattern. I hacked it into a dress and have made several with lots of compliments! Hoping to make it for winter by lengthening the sleeves.

The Margot Peplum may be my favorite LN pattern (it’s hard to choose a favorite!). I’ve made it for my daughter and sister so far–very different body types, and it looks fantastic on both of them. I didn’t have them nearby to fit along the way, but got great results just going by the pattern’s measurements chart. I’ve got two more in the works–another for my daughter and one for me.

  20. Amy Blough (verified owner)

I did not think this pattern was for me until I saw someone mash it up with the Sybil skirt ALine skirt to make a really nice dress. I did it myself and was very happy with the result. The Princess seams are very flattering, as is the waist seam. I used the full bust piece to get a great fit with no effort on my part. I would strongly recommend this paired with the Sybil Skirt pattern.

The Margot and the Willow dress, both peplums, were the first patterns I sewed for myself after making the free LDT back in 2018… after not sewing for myself in probably almost 30 years. Peplums look beautiful on all body shapes, and I love these two patterns! Easy to cut and sew, with beautiful results!

  22. vh_scott (verified owner)

I’m not much of a peplum top person, but I’m happy I bought this one because it works great when mashed up with the Sybil skirts. An easy way to add princess seams to a dress!

  23. Lori Jessen (verified owner)

Pleated peplum??? Yes, please! And princess seams, too! Iโ€™ve only made one, but I need to make more,

  24. Rachel (verified owner)

Margot is one of my most used patterns. I have made it over a dozen times in scuba, liverpool, ponte, lightweight cotton lycra and even ITY. I love the details of the pleats and princess seams but appreciate the solid bodice and swing skirt for when I’m in a hurry. I love that I can wear it with jeans or with my Sybile pencil skirts. Margot is such a versatile pattern!
