There’s a chill in the air which means one thing- cardigan weather!  The Love Notions cardigans are some of our favorites and you’ll want to sew one up yourself STAT!  I’m sharing a few of the ways I love to style the Canyon Cardigan and Boyfriend Cardigan to get you through the fall and into winter.

The Canyon Cardigan is such a fun layering piece.

The waterfall front is my go-to but with multiple options, you really can’t go wrong. The different skirt options make this pattern a great alternative to your basic cardigan. These are both sewn up in a lightweight sweater knit. You’ll want to use a fabric with an excellent drape for this version and these sweaters are so perfect for those warmer days with chilly evenings. I like to wear these with jeans and booties but they also look great dressed up with a skirt and some nice jewelry.

Now I’m going to gush a little about the Boyfriend Cardigan.

There aren’t many patterns that I sew up again and again but I currently have four Boyfriends that I rotate between (don’t tell my husband, lol!). This pattern is just such a staple in my wardrobe!

These three cardigans have been with me through a few winters and I don’t foresee them going anywhere any time soon. The bottom green version is in a lightweight sweater knit and it’s great for throwing on when you know the restaurant will be a bit chilly or when the hubby likes the house a little cooler than you do. The plaid version is a double knit that is super warm and cozy. I style this one like I would a blazer. It dresses up easily and works great over dresses, slacks, and button-up blouses. It also looks great with jeans and a tee for everyday mom life. I skipped the side vents on this and the charcoal version making them extremely quick sews!

Let’s talk about this french terry version.

I’m always telling anyone that will listen that you NEED a cozy french terry cardigan in your wardrobe. This is by far my most worn handmade piece. I’m wearing it here with a LDT and a little jewelry to fancy it up a little. I put this baby on multiple times a week whether I’ve got a full day of errands or a lazy day at home with my sewing machines. It’s comfortable but a step above the ratty old hoodie that it replaced. I love it paired with joggers or leggings for the ultimate in comfort!

My latest version is already giving my charcoal buddy a run for its money. I used a lightweight Waffle Sweater Knit from Cali Fabrics for this one and it’s perfect for fall. Paired with a Classic Tee and scarf, this outfit is the epitome of my style- classy, comfy, and a little trendy.

I’ve yet to do a hood version of this pattern (I think a hood would be fantastic in a french terry or thick sweater knit). The shawl collar is just so classic and easy to wear! It makes it super versatile and easy to layer. The pockets are a must as well. I love the slight drape they have and they are just big enough to hold all the essentials.

I couldn’t forget to include the girl’s version! It’s a favorite of my little ladies as well. It offers all the same incredible features in sizes 2t-16. This french terry version is just as loved by my mini me as mine is.
