I love this pattern!! This is a classic, button down – a staple in my wardrobe. This pattern gave me my first opportunity to sew a tower placket on the sleeve – straightforward directions and nothing to be intimidated about. I’ve made a tunic length shackett and a short sleeve shirt to date. I see many Arias in my future!

  2. Kim Field (verified owner)

The instructions were easy to understand and follow. The fitting adjustments that I made were easy to do, with good results. I liked being able to use my quilting cotton or a heavier woven and still have it look good. So far, I’ve made a sleeveless top and a long sleeved shirt. I have some flannel waiting for another.

  3. Caren Augsburger (verified owner)

Great pattern and instructions. I purchased the class too. Very helpful! I made my first Aria out of checked gingham seersucker. It’s a great long sleeved shirt on its own, or a nice thin second layer over a t-shirt. I’ll be making another one soon.

  4. Jos Ruitenbeek (verified owner)

Love this pattern, easy to do, even with placket and collar!

  5. Frances Campbell (verified owner)

    Such a great pattern!

I love the easy collar in one-piece! And the sleeve plackets come together beautifully with good clear instructions.

Another great pattern from Love Notions!

  6. Rashawn Miller (verified owner)

This was my very first button front shirt. It came together so quickly, and was amazingly easy. I’m excited to revisit the Aria pattern over and over again in the future.

  7. sassymcreations (verified owner)

You must get the class to go with this pattern. Best fitting and sewn pieces I’ve made this year. Why did I wait so long after buying the pattern and class? I missed the winter versions, but these linen ones are getting all the compliments!

  8. Gaby20ster (verified owner)

I honestly cannot believe I made this one! I am a mess with buttons and buttonholes and my blouse looks like purchased. I did use the course and it guides you through all the steps (even chosing the right fabric/notions)

  9. Elisabeth Hirschi (verified owner)

A good button down pattern is so nice to have! I have tried a lot of different brands button down patterns and was never fully satisfied. I think I have found the one in the Aria!

  10. Karen (verified owner)

This pattern is so versatile, it will be a staple in my closet. I also purchased the class, being new to clothing sewing it is helpful.

  11. Vicki Piper (verified owner)

I have already made the shirt dress and I have fabric for 2 more. To be honest, I would have been intimidated but for the step by step class. Now my self confidence is through the roof. I am so grateful

  12. Mary Duckworth (verified owner)

I purchased the class for this one and it made everything very simple. I even did a. rounded back adjustment so my shirt fits exactly right. I have plans for a few more Arias.

  13. carter.jacqueline (verified owner)

I bought this pattern and course, love both. I had always struggled with plackets, no more, instructions were great for me as I am very much a visual learner because I am so left handed, love, love, love, have made 4 and am planning again, every one different. Thanks Tami.

  14. aprilschutt (verified owner)

I have made 3 versions of this now and I love each one. I purchased the course too which I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything as I am self taught! Was not disappointed.

  15. Vicki Piper (verified owner)

I have made the top and a beautiful dress also! Great pattern with such crisp details!

  16. Kristi Craft (verified owner)

I love this classic button up shirt. I can wear mine stand-alone or with my Oakley vest. Very versatile shirt pattern for everybody. I have the Aria course that I used to help me sew the sleeve plackets and it turned out perfectly. I would recommend buying the course if you are a beginner. Don’t let this pattern scare you away though. Anyone can sew it!

  17. Robyn Munn (verified owner)

A long time since I made a woven shirt but very happy with this pattern. Easy to follow instructions as usual.

  18. Susan Schmader (verified owner)

I love the Aria pattern! I’ve made it 4 times already – short sleeved, sleeveless and 2 long sleeved with the tower placket. Fun pattern to make and fun shirt to wear. There will definitely be more!

  19. lynnbuckland (verified owner)

I’m fairly new to sewing and This is the first time I’ve ever sewn a shirt and it turned out fantastic. Everyone is surprised it’s hand made as they all think it looks really professional. I found the instructins straightforward to follow and I’ll definitely be making more.

  21. michellekwallace (verified owner)

This is an easy to sew classic shirt pattern. I made a size large and it fits me well. So far I’ve sewn it twice in the tunic length which I wear over my Sabrina slims. Next I’m planning to make the dress length for summer. I recommend this pattern if you’re looking for a wardrobe staple you’ll make many times.

  22. Patricia Wilson (verified owner)

I looked a long time for a good button down pattern and this does not disappoint. It is perfect for layering under sweaters or wearing alone. Just like all of Love Notions’ patterns, this one has excellent, easy to follow instructions and the fit is spot on. I never buy any other brand of patterns anymore.

I have made several of these in the tunic length with short sleeves and they fit well and made up easily. Next I want to make a shirt dress for the warmer weather. Great value with all the different lengths and sleeves. A wardrobe staple that I will be making again and again.

  31. Laura Hovey (verified owner)

This was my first button down shirt; I was surprised how easily it came together. I love the fit… I think having the full bust piece makes it so much easier… especially because I use a projector and do my adjustments digitally.

  32. Rashawn Miller (verified owner)

This pattern was my very first button down, collared shirt, and it’s still my favorite. It’s a classic, and fairly simple to make. The instructions are great. I started with the short-sleeved version, and just finished my first long sleeve version with tower placket. I’m so pleased with how it turned out.

  33. sadiejnl (verified owner)

I purchased this pattern + the class. The class was great, easy to follow and I was so pleased with myself as I had never done a placket before. I was ready to do my button holes and THEN thought to try it on!!!!! What a disaster I had forgotten to do the full bust option 😢
