Easy to follow instructions, beautiful illustrations, and the end result is a terrific top! I will need several of these in my fall/winter wardrobe <3

  2. Kimberly Coffin

I really enjoyed making this pattern! The instructions were so clear and easy to understand. I love the large size range so I can make different sizes for my family. 🙂

  3. Jennifer (verified owner)

I love this pattern! Easy to follow and easy to adjust to fit you perfectly! Love that you can add lots to your pattern (hoods, collars, pockets!) or do a very simple version!

  4. Lea (verified owner)

I made this in a nice thick sweater knit, and it is such a warm, snuggly cardi for our Canadian fall.
The shawl collar pops up and covers the back of my neck against the wind.

    I *love* this !

  5. Cassie (verified owner)

I made this in a ponte and I love it! So comfortable with a tunic, leggings, and boots for the Fall/Winter!

  6. coco

Just didn’t work for me. I had problems with the drafting and the pattern markings.

  7. ammonlane (verified owner)

Just bought and sewed in one night! Perfect fit, great for calandra very versatile with the different fabric types you can use!

  8. Jaslyn (verified owner)

I bought the pattern and immediately made one for myself. Instructions were great and I like the fit! Will be making another soon in my more expensive knit! I can totally see this as a stable in my wardrobe!

  9. puzzlnut (verified owner)

The perfect garment for the fall shoulder season and surprisingly easy to make. Excellent instructions accompany this pattern and in no time at all you have a garment you can be proud of! My first of many.

  10. Sarah (verified owner)

Cardigan with a hood? Yes, please! This is a great cardigan and a simple sew. Most importantly, it’s warm!

  11. Alisha (verified owner)

I’m a fairly inexperienced seamstress, and I expected this to be much more difficult to put together than it was. I was pleasantly surprised! Thanks to clear instructions and pictures, it came together easily. I love the fit! It’s slimming in a lightweight sweater knit and has just the right length.

  12. Mary Norton (verified owner)

Great pattern, instructions were super easy to follow, I have already made two and am planning a third (for my daughter, she wants one now :))

  13. Trista

So comfy. Can be worn as round the house or dressed up to wear out.

  14. Debbie (verified owner)

I love this pattern! Very easy with clear instructions, sizing spot on and comfy to wear, a winner all around!

  15. Abby (verified owner)

Love the design of this pattern, though I had some issues with the hoodie band. Mine came up about 4 inches short. I suspect that it was my fault though, I probably shortened it wrong.

  16. Vickie Uselton

I order three patterns and got the pdf one but other two not delivered to me.

  18. Kayla Broady (verified owner)

Probably my favorite LN pattern. Clear easy instructions and sews up quickly. You can’t have too many cardigans!

  19. Ronna Plank (verified owner)

Easy to follow instructions, great drafting and a perfect wardrobe staple. Make it in lighter knits for summer or heavier sweater knits to stay cozy in winter. I love this pattern.

  20. mommurri08 (verified owner)

This is a staple for me! Great pattern!

  21. Brenda (verified owner)

I’ve made this pattern for all the women in my life – it is a great, quick gift to make. I’ve used heavy c/l, french terry and even a mystery knit…everyone loves them!

  22. brooke (verified owner)

    Excellent pattern!! Very quick sew!

  23. 10identical (verified owner)

Very clear instructions make this easy – I’d never worked with sweater knit and never done a split seam and everything turned out fine! I haven’t tried the updated file yet but made the hooded version of the first version and love it

  24. Hope (verified owner)

This was my second pattern I bought from Love Notions, and I love it! I need to make more someday! Love Notions patterns are one of my favorite companies for patterns!

  25. Jaye Holland (verified owner)

One of my favorite! I’ve made two – one with pockets – one without! Always go for the pockets! 🙂 An easy sew and I felt fancy using the clear elastic in the shoulder seams. This was a new technique for me.

  26. Hayley Lown (verified owner)

Love this. Can’t wait to make more for gifts

  27. pmanvill (verified owner)

I enjoyed making this pattern and am planning on making another one for this fall.

  28. Stacey Gambetti (verified owner)

What a gorgeous useful pattern in the Boyfriend Cardy. Myself and my daughters love this and it’s great for most occasions depending on the fabric choices. Thanks LN 🙂

  29. Julie Boylan (verified owner)

I’m a knitter so initially I bought this pattern to use to knit the pieces and sew together. I like the lines and pockets and other details.

  30. kathleenniemerg (verified owner)

I made the Boyfriend Cardigan in French Terry and was a little surprised that it wasn’t as loose as I was expecting. With a looser sweater knit it will probably fit more like what I was expecting a boyfriend fit to be.

  31. Robin Twerdok (verified owner)

Just when I didn’t think the original couldn’t get better I can’t wait to try the new update!

  32. Karen (verified owner)

This is by far my favorite cardi pattern. I love the hood and pockets. And the instructions are very clear. I learned how to do the side vents for the first time. They look so professional! Great pattern! I can’t wait to try the updates.

  33. Deneane Keane (verified owner)

When your 24 year old daughter asks for a Boyfriend cardigan “just like yours” you know it’s a keeper! I get so many compliments when I wear it! Instructions are easy to follow. I think it would be nice to have a serger to finish the seams but mine still turned out fine without it. Love this pattern!

  34. janamonin (verified owner)

The Boyfriend cardigan is a keeper. Simple construction. Comfortable fit. Having the extra options in the update is fantastic. I am still unsure of the fit differences from the original to the update. I just printed the updated version, and am about to cut it out.

  35. Josephine (verified owner)

total wardrobe staple! great instructions and so many possibilities.

  36. Lrain (verified owner)

I love this pattern, easy to follow instructions, I made it for a friend and she loved it! Now I need a couple.

  37. Kimberly (verified owner)

Great pattern with easy to follow instructions. This is such a perfect transition piece for fall or spring.

  38. Tamara (verified owner)

I made this in a super warm prerty pink sweater knit that turned out to be a perfect layering piece when it gets really cold here in Chicago. I love the hood & pockets. Thank you for a fun & stash pattern!

  39. Deb M. (verified owner)

My sister has never had a ‘Boyfriend Cardigan’, so I made her one for Christmas. She Loves it! Thank you LN for offering her size and Karina at “Lifting Pins and Needles” for her tutorials. Her lovely sleeveless duster encouraged me to have another look at the pattern. Can’t wait to bling out the pattern into a dressy version for me.

  40. kj.broady (verified owner)

I love this sweater! I have lost count of how many I have made. Such easy directions and a quick sew.

  41. Jeannie M (verified owner)

My very first Love Notions pattern and I am still in love with it!

  42. Anne Pericoi (verified owner)

It was my first garment ever and I had absolutely no problem: easy instruction to understand, everything comes together as it should. I used a video to feel more confident but probably could have done without. Another one will probably soon be in my wardrobe!

  43. mlgatward (verified owner)

The Boyfriend cardigan is a great structured pattern. I’ve made two from a heavy weight knit and a duster from a light weight knit to go over my long Cadence sundress.

  44. Kathy Norris (verified owner)

I love this pattern. Easy sew and fit perfect using the measurements. I made a black knit one and wore it with almost everything in my closet.

  45. Margaret Monson (verified owner)

Great pattern, made me one in french terry and it’s nice and cozy, but I looked more of a flowy cardigan so might try it in a lighter fabric. All the pieces for great together.

  46. Margaret Monson (verified owner)

Great pattern, made me one in french terry and it’s nice and cozy, but I looked more of a flowy cardigan so might try it in a lighter fabric. All the pieces fit great together, LN has the best armscye that I’ve ever sewed.

  47. Debbie Collarin (verified owner)

This was my first love notions pattern. Directions were easy.. I get compliments every time I wear it

  48. Melissa Chance (verified owner)

I decided to create an autumnal capsule wardrobe module set per Whitney of TomKat Stitchery (3 tops, 1 topper and 2 bottoms). I used the Boyfriend Cardigan pattern for my topper in a mediumweight 100% cotton French Terry, standard bust, longline length with the regular band collar. This is a great fitting cardigan on my short-waisted body with zero fabric pooling around the armhole bust area (which I was worried about due to the drop shoulder). I like having the vents at the side seams and the centre back/side seam shaping which allows for extra space for my full seat. The reason why I avoided longline anything before was the fabric pulling around my hips but I have ample room for ease of movement in this cardigan. I graded from a size large at the bust to an XL at the waist/hips which allows room for a light under layer of clothing. My only adjustment is that I used mitred corners to finish the vents instead of following the instructions per Karina Trinidad of Lifting Pins and Needles. I am excited to make more of these toppers because they really tie an outfit together.

I’m a cardigan gal! I especially love longer cardigans! So this is one of my favorite patterns. I will use this again and again. I think I have 3 now. I have done good and shawl neck, and in sweater knits and French terry, I tried one in a sweatshirt fleece. Following the directions walked me thru all the steps easily how this comes together. And they turned out nice, most people didn’t even realize they were handmade.

  50. Margaret Kilmer (verified owner)

So easy! I made one for myself out of fleece and have since made several at friends’ requests!
It’s comfy and the simple lines are deceptive, it doesn’t LOOK half as easy as it was to sew. I’m buying some sweater knit for my next one.

  51. chroniclesofchristina (verified owner)

Can I have too many of these? Nope. This has become an elevated staple. It has more drama than a regular cardigan but keeps me warm but still pulled together. Combine this pattern with a great sweater knit from Stylemaker and I’m pulled together for work. Love it.
